Things I want to do with my website
This is a prompt from my title trade with James, who has most recently written The artist was here.
There are two threads of things I want to do with my website - the technical side and the actual content of the site.
On the technical side:
- I have a colophon with ideas and updates
- more pictures, with captions, looking better
- get the stuff in the footer in one line
- maybe fix how the tagged lists display? Or just keep doing it manually
- maybe use the meta descriptions? I've been writing them but doing nothing to display them
- ongoing dilemma between loving typography and wanting to experiment but also loving the site being light and fast
- sea creatures
On the what's-on-the-website front I want to lean in to the digital garden aspect more. I have quite a few pages in the notes section. Most of them collect together posts on a topic with some extra context, links, info.
Some, like The Wikipedia, do not and I'm not entirely sure what my criteria is. The likelihood of it continuing to be updated? In which case Paintings of paintings should have been a page. Not that it matters hugely but being more consistent probably would help.
I'd like to put some zines on the site which is prevented more by confidence than competence. Equally, some fiction writing. Maybe a fiction zine for a helpful combination.
I'm working on a plan for approaching writing about books. Very specifically not reviews. But I want to be able to write about what I'm reading and what I like in a way that feels comfortable.
And just generally the aim with the site is to contribute something, build something, meet people, and be part of the community. Which is very much a success and long may it continue.
